The Blood Beckons is a dungeon adventure for up to four players of a well rounded party of adventurers at 12th level, using two maps, including Michael Tumey's entry for the One Page Dungeon Contest.

While players are free to use any game system rules to play this dungeon.certain monsters, NPC stats and treasure pertain to Pathfinder RPG, though this can easlly be adapted to D&D 3.5, 4.0 or other game system rules.

In a dark twist of fate the benevolent king of Ambrathas, Lord Ebethor the Wise, has incurred the greatest affront, with the kidnapping of his two noble sons, twins just in their ninth year of life. They were stolen in a surprise raid by unholy denizens serving the undying pontiff, Lhessadrak the Lich his fortress and crypt lair far to the south.

Scouts have reported dark travellers with two young boys heading south into the forests and marshes of vile south.

Though a party attempted their rescue, shortly after the raid, the travellers proved to be too much and overcame the rescuers, dying to the man.

King Ebethor has called upon the party of great adventurers to go south into the Undead Lands and bring the two princes safely home.

This adventure adds a possible background history for one of the PCs, most likely a paladin or cleric. While most of her ancestors have an illustrious history serving the forces of good, one ancestor five generations back began a career serving good, but events and tragedy led to his fall, and eventual service to the dark opposition. That fallen ancestor became the lich called Lhessadrak. As the party ventures closer to his dark lair, a voice from beyond is trying to contact that individual through nightmares and omens.

Hereafterm the PC in question will be named the "chosen PC."

Even the plot of the kidnapping of the two princes, parallels an event that occurred in the lich's lifetime to aid in the ritual of beckoning his bloodline...
